This assignment was very challenging for me because I have never made a map before and I had so much trouble thinking of a topic. I decided to focus on the arts and music facilities in Bloomsburg because I am a work study student for the box office of Arts in Bloom at Haas Center for the Arts and have been for the last 2 1/2 years. I have also been involved with the arts since I was in seventh grade, so this topic is near and dear to my heart. My boss at Haas was very excited to hear that I would be creating this map because she wants to be able to use it in the future to help our community patrons.
I started this map by creating a list of facilities with my boss and then began pinning them into the map. I watched the Bolt tutorial throughout to help me with the logistics of creating everything. I then added the descriptions that I came up with (and with the help of the company websites that will be linked below) as well as importing pictures through the “Google Search” feature embedded in the mapping software (linked below). Finally, I used the Bolt tutorial to help me embed the map into this post right now. Overall, this was very interesting to make and I look forward to doing it again next week to build on my skills.
