Getting to Know Princess Mia Thermopolis

Mia Thermopolis Infographic

For this Profile Infographic assignment, I started from scratch on creating a profile on Princess Mia Thermopolis.  Growing up and to this day, I am a huge Disney fan and two of my favorite movies are The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.  Anne Hathaway plays the role of Princess Mia Thermopolis in the two movies.  I used a Disney Fandom site to gather information about Mia Thermopolis.  I went onto Canva.com and started designing.  I have used Canva in multiple classes and internships and I really like how easy it is to use. My design changed multiple times throughout the process and overall, I wanted to keep the infographic kid friendly, since it is a Disney movie character, but also professional.  I took notes from each of the Profile Infographics posted as examples for us to view, looked up other infographics, and also gathered information from what I learned during my LinkedIn Learning video.  To get images of Princess Mia and the other characters I added to the profile, I saved images from Google and used Photoshop to edit each of the pictures to my liking and to crop out the background and saving them as PNG files so that the transparent background would be saved.  For the colors I used in this profile infographic, I chose different shades of blue because on the Princess Diaries movie cover, the background color is a light blue and I loved how it looked on the infographic.  To research information, it took me about 30 minutes to gather the information that I needed and then I worked on the infographic for about 3.5-4 hours.  I think because I wanted to use a lot of photos and icons in my infographic, it took me a little longer than I expected and because I changed my design layout a few times throughout the process.  I made the title font more elegant and script because Mia is a Princess/Queen and the other fonts I decided to keep simple.  There is a quote in the movie about looking lovely on a postage stamp, so I took that quote and ran with it.  I chose to put Princess Mia’s picture in the top right corner, where a stamp would be placed and made it look as though her face is on a postage stamp.
