For this Infographic, I used Microsoft Excel to best display the statistical data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. I chose Excel because I am trying to immerse myself more in this program upon starting my career path in May (hopefully) where I will most likely be asked to used Excel on a regular basis. I am slowly but surely getting more comfortable with this program.
Like I have mentioned above, I researched this topic through the CDC, and was able to apply the statistical evidence into two different effective chart forms. The Marriage Rates chart is a clustered column bar graph, in which I was able to manipulate the appearance of it into the aesthetic I was going for. The neon green columns naturally draw your eye into the graph, and the data is arranged in the most functional way. As for the Divorce & Annulment Rates chart, that is a statistical line graph with markers. Again, here I went for a simplistic yet pleasing-to-the-eye chart.
Overall, I chose this topic because I was originally interested to see how the marriage rates in the United States compare to it’s divorce rates. While the marriage rates seem to be ultimately higher (for now), we very well may see a shift in some years to come. I hope you enjoy these graphs as much as I do, & were able to learn something from them!
